Painting is a way in which I become one with the landscape.

Everything else
seems to fade away...

…and there is simply the beauty of the light, the stillness of the earth beneath my feet, and the constant ebb and flow of the sea. I was taught that the artist invites the viewer into the painting as if there is a path or destination into the piece. But as the artist I have been first invited into this place in this moment of time and I am struck by the sheer breathtaking wonder and endless beauty of the natural world. My eye has been drawn to the brilliance of color, the contrasting light breaking through the clouds that reaches out to warm the earth, and I am in a state of grace. I find that I become filled up by the endless beauty of this place that has been laid before my feet. I drink it up as a gift for me to attempt to capture its essence, and rest in the peace, the wonder, and the joy that I have found in this sacred space here on earth.
